Why we built MOMIC
Many people study a language for years and still hesitate to speak. The reason is rarely a lack of vocabulary. It is a lack of places to speak a lot, to make mistakes without embarrassment, and to be corrected straight away.
MOMIC (Mở Mic, 开麦) means “open the mic” in Vietnamese: the moment you decide to speak up. We built a 3D town in the browser so that anyone has a place to practise speaking at any time: an AI tutor beside you, AI characters in every kind of job, and real people to talk to when you're ready.
What we believe
- Minutes spent speaking are what matter most. Every feature has to help you speak more.
- International standards, not our own scales. Feedback follows CEFR, HSK, IELTS, TOPIK, JLPT and Goethe; mock test scores are always labelled as estimates.
- Honesty with learners. No guaranteed passes, no selling places for jobs abroad, no testimonials we wrote ourselves.
- Your language comes first. Explanations, subtitles and feedback come in the language you chose, in 12 languages and counting.
- Private by design. No voice recordings; strangers can't hear you unless you agree.
Who makes MOMIC
MOMIC is a product and brand of BAT Ai (Công ty Cổ phần Tập đoàn BAT AI), headquartered at Floor 2, Eco Lakeview, 32 Đại Từ, Định Công Ward, Hanoi, Vietnam, with a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City (No. 42, Street 20, Him Lam New Urban Area, Tân Hưng Ward). BAT Ai also has offices in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and Norcross, Georgia (USA).
Technology
The 3D town runs directly in the browser (React Three Fiber), and the characters are based on Microsoft Rocketbox (MIT licence). Tutors and characters use large language models, with fallback models running on BAT's own servers in Vietnam so lessons aren't interrupted. Speech is recognised with Whisper, on Cloudflare's infrastructure or BAT's servers.
